This morning I was lucky enough to go and have a few rounds at Tas Laser Skirmish, which is basically infrared gun warfare in a decent chunk of Australian bush. It was awesome fun, but coming from my fairly extensive experience in the video game equivalents a few things weren't quite how I expected:
- Crouching doesn't necessarily make you aim any better.
- There's only one map.
- (There are at least three game modes though)
- You have to walk or run back to base before you can respawn.
- Going prone is great for not getting shot but almost impossible to fire from in grass.
- No key to hold down to move silently.
- Awesome physics engine.
- Yelling "tangos, dead ahead" immediately reveals your position to all opponents.
On the whole, not too bad at all.

Funnily enough, I had a go at Laser Skirmish as my staff party (bouncers ftw). I observed pretty much the exact same thing.
Also, sneaking around behind the enemy is great. Until you shoot someone (who happens to be your boss) and they yell for the rest of their team (who was actually surrounding you because you were an idiot and didn't check your six) to kill you. The walk back to the respawn point is long and humiliating from the enemy camp. :P
